Event Coverage: Philly Fashion Week 2016

I had the pleasure of attending this year's Philly Fashion Week held February 17-20. I attended the two weekend shows which featured ready to wear men's and women's clothing on Friday night, and couture fashion on Saturday evening. The show was held at 2300 Arena, a popular venue in the city known for hosting boxing matches & other sporting events and shows. The four day event brought out the who's who in Philly fashion and even a return visit from Fern Mallis creator of New York Fashion Week. As a new blogger on the scene, I was eager to see the creativity of some well known and up & coming local designers.

The shows were filled with great work from people who are clearly passionate about their craft. The designers truly showcased their unique voice through their presentations. Only one designer showcased a plus size gown on the runway (big ups to Thomas Lavone).  However, I love fashion as art form so I could appreciate everything that was presented during the two nights I attended.

Seeing as how I go gaga for gowns, my eyes were particular drawn to those that featuring formal wear in their line up.  I thoroughly enjoyed the offerings of Elizabeth Delgado, the aforementioned Thomas Lavone,  Briana ElizaChuks Collins/Kholyns Couture, Closet by Christobal, and my particular favorite Lillie Designs who closed Saturday night's show with an awesome display of ethereal, angelic couture gowns.

My outfits for each night reflected how I felt on that particular evening. On Friday, I opted for my favorite Gabby style dress from Curvaceous Boutique. On Saturday I was much more laid back and went with a cheetah print shirt from Fashion To Figure, leggings from Torrid (yes, they are pants to each her own) and cheetah print Michael Kors kitten heels from Macy's. No matter where I'm going I always follow my gut when deciding how I want to dress for the occasion. Haven't been wrong yet!
